Bread & Jam With Coffee

This is the project I did for Intro to Art Appreciation. I save things to use for art or what ever. I started saving plastic bread tie things because i just think some thing that useful has to have other uses. and they do you can use then to label cords to re seal cereal and such. I had paint from War-hammer painting laying around and the wood and wood sealer as well as a brass screw and soda tab. around the edges I cut up Starbucks gift cards. (all were used I ask for them when I go in and they give me the used ones behind the counter)
I don't love it but I don't hate it. I think my favorite thing about it is the name. My Husband felt it was a perfect way to make a hanger it just competed it.

December Graduate Party gifts 2012

With With it being a fall graduation it is very hard to find anything for graduation in any of the stores. I wanted to make something for the people who can to the ceremony and the after party to say thank you it being a fall graduation it is very hard to find anything for graduation in any of the stores. I wanted to make something for the people who came to the ceremony and the after party to say thank you for being there for us these last 5 years. So being December I made snow men. I wrote the year and my husbands name on the hats but it really doesn't show up well. if I had more time and money I would have added arms and a small diploma rolled up in there hands.

They look more like birds here

Here they finally look like snow men
This is a special one for My Father-in-law because he says he hates snow. So I made his melted. He loved it!

Hello again. Sorry to have taken such a long time off. My life has been anything but normal or easy for quite sometime. I have been crafting but though I never stop. I have slowed down some but I am feeling like I am getting a handle of dealing with life just a bit and want to come back to my world of crafting on the web.
Here you see a fairy door. It is not like any of the ones I have seen for sale. It was only $3 in parts. The parts came from the craft store Micheal's. it is a wooded Frame a Heart wood cut and a hinge.
I sanded everything before painting. I then planed what direction I would do the Triskel. I penciled the triskel then whittled it with my Boy-Scout Whittling knife. After carving I stained the wood using a red mahogany for the heart and a oak on the frame. I then decided which side would be up and husband helped me decide it could look like a leaf.

The Triskel is indicative of Mother Nature, Gaia, and of the Triple goddess,  "Mother Maiden Crone" which fae folks are suppose to be attached to that folklore.  Inside the Triple moon is another nod to that again. I did use a moon stone for the door handle. It is also considered to be of the Mother-nature theme too.
I free handed the vine work. The challenge with this project was restraint. I had the desire to turn it into a bright colorful silly thing. I had to be reminded that It could look more like a Magpies nest then a fairy door, & that a fairy would keep their house a little more concealed so they don't get captured.  I tried but couldn't find a good photo to put inside the frame I wanted a photo like looking into a hobbit hole but couldn't find one. So I went with the Idea that it is a magical door into another realm the realm of the Fae.

Finished Fencing Helm

My fencing helm with Chaperon all though I started out with a hood that is rolled for the Chaperon I altered it later to get it to look better. The reason I needed to alter it was because I didn't make the Liripipe on the hood as long as it needed to be to hang out after the hood was rolled. I sewed it to the Mask. My husband thought I should wire it but I would rather the thread brake then the fabric, so I did not.
Here is a link to the Hats history and variations.
